Fall Colors, Itasca State Park, MN

We traveled to Itasca State Park in MN this weekend with our Hill family.  It was a good trip, and we caught the colors in good form this year.  We traveled with my mom's brother, his wife and their son and daughter in law.  My aunt and uncle are aging (as we all are, but you know) and each trip with them is a blessing.  My uncle is my mom's only sibling, and since I lost her over 30 years ago, he is my only connection to her past.

We spent the day driving around, looking at leaves and enjoying each other's company in the vehicle.  Life is so good.

After we returned home, my aunt showed me keepsakes from the past, which is something that I love.  I love seeing pictures of my mom, grandma, grandpa, their brothers and sisters, and hearing stories about the past, whether I have heard them before or not.

It was a good day!

We began at the gym with our trainer, Amanda, and then headed to the bike trail with a couple of our friends.  The weather was perfect, the ride was tough (haven't been on the bikes all summer) and the company was great!  We rode along, I listened to my favorite Pandora station and I took in the beauty of the blue skies around me and the perfect temperature.

I finished off the day by stopping by my sister's house for a quick visit and an overdue hug before returning home to catch some television with my wife.

It was a good day to be alive!
